The lovely Paolo has opened a new gelateria at Fornaci di Barga. I missed the opening by a few days. Fortunately Rosi and Adriano were there and took some photos for us.
The new gelateria is in the main street of Fornaci di Barga, not too far from Bagni di Lucca. He still has the one a Gallicano so now we have 2 places to go to find the very best gelato.
I will be back soon to have a nocciola, pistachio or perhaps a chocolate or possibly a yoghurt. Paolo makes the best gelato.
We love Paolo. We wish he was still with us at Ponte a Serraglio, but he is not far away so we can visit often.
Here is another photo of lovely Paolo, there can never be too many. This one was taken when we called in to check on the progress of the new shop.
Click here to see the first post on Paolo. He was the very first person I met in Ponte a Serraglio.

Can’t wait for June to have try them out – a different one each day perhaps? I wonder how it will affect my diabetes – all those wonderful things to try? But one can’t be totally good whilst in Italy on holidays.

How nice to read this post, Deb! Does Paolo still have the gelateria he opened last year, or has he onsold it?

Paolo still has the one he opened last year. It is in a shopping centre. This one is in the main street and will give him more flexibility. We now have a choice of places to find his gelato.

Deb, was looking forward to reading about the gorgeous Paolo and his gelateria in the near by village and it lives up to all expectations obviously. Please congratulate him for me and tell him I will come and try the gelato when I visit you in Bagni di Lucca in April.

Paolo was the very first person we met we got off the bus to holiday in Bagni di Lucca. He knew we were desperate to buy milk and obliged us, even though he didn’t sell milk. It was a hot day and saved us the walk into La Villa. Friendly guy.
Thanks for the great photos.
Cheers Judy

Paolo was the first person I met as well. We miss seeing him everyday at Ponte a Serraglio, but at least he is nearby.

Your blog is so much fun and really keeps us feeling connected to our second home. So much fun seeing Ricky and people we know. Can’t wait to visit Paolo’s new location. Fornaci is right in our stomping ground and I know how amazing his gelato is.
Thank you for keeping us connected until we return.

I find it difficult to eat ice cream outside of Italy, it is never quite as good elsewhere.

Oh…..I do love gelato. It is sure difficult to find here, and when you do, it is so much more expensive than in Italy. Have fun with that!

There are a couple of places in Brisbane who make ice-cream in the Italian style, and it isn’t bad, but still not as good as Paolo’s.

Paolo makes some of the best gelato I have eaten in Italy. A drool button sounds like a good idea.

Hi I’m back from holidays and saw this post on Paolo. Please pass on my warm congratulations to Paolo on his new shop. Judging from the scrumptious gelati I’ve tasted from Paolo’s range of flavours in his shop in 2006, I’m sure his business will do a roaring trade. His pitaschio gelati was the best.
I always equate Paolo with Ponte de Serraglio, because he was the first person we contacted when we got off the bus. He welcomed us warmly and directed us to the right people to find your apartment. Ponte de Serraglio will not be the same without Paolo. At least, as you say, Deb, he is not too far away for a taste of his delicious gelati.

Ciao a tutti !!!!!!!!!!!
